Storing Speech Therapy Materials

If you have difficulty finding cost-effective and efficient ways to organize and store your Speech materials, I’m here to help you out!

Whenever I recommend organization/storage items in my SLP Steals and Deals Facebook group, people wonder what I store in them or how I organize those items. So here’s how!

Themes

I keep all of my themed materials: books, small trinket-type toys, puzzles, play-dough mats, etc. in these scrapbook paper boxes. I stack them in my Ikea bookshelf and they fit PERFECTLY! I put them in order of the school year. I like that they’re relatively thin so you’ll have a lot of options for where to put them. And when it’s out, it’s not super obnoxious and taking up tons of space.

You can also take out only the theme you’re doing that week/month and keep the rest hidden away in a closet somewhere. (Or even at home!) They would fit in a traveling bag easily, too!

Here is all of my ocean-themed materials in one box!

It Includes about 6 books, printable dough mats, ocean animals (in a baggie), balance puzzle pieces (in a baggie), box of reusable ice cubes, and a wooden puzzle with fishing rod.

Wooden Puzzles + Accessories

You’ll notice that the wooden puzzle and fishing rod are in their own storage item. That is a poly envelope. I prefer the kind with the string closure. (I feel that the snap closures break easily and don’t offer much “give”. The string closure allows me to stuff these envelopes full!)

This particular puzzle goes perfectly with the book “Commotion in the Ocean”, so I store that in the same envelope.

Mesh Zipper Bags

About a year ago I decided to ditch all of the boxes my games came in and store all of them in these mesh zipper bags. I love that they come in many different sizes, and are somewhat see through. Since all of the boxes are varying sizes and not malleable, it was hard to fit them all together neatly on a shelf. Now I store them all in open-top bins from Ikea in my closet. I use a label maker to identify them.

These are all in the Variera box from IKEA, but would fit in any box or bin you have.

Half Inch Binders

So many resources on TpT are printable, full sheets that are used over and over. For things like these, I have placed them in page protectors and store them in half inch binders.

Half inch seems to be the perfect size for most TpT resources!

I feel like all of these options are able to be used whatever type of speech room you have – a closet, a home-office, a moderate PP office, or a full classroom! They can be placed on bookshelves, tucked in closets, etc.

If you’d like to grab some or all of these items, find them in my Amazon store by clicking the picture above!
